Ms. Fawzia Karim Firoze is an internationally award-winning and leading figure in the legal and human rights arena, with over two decades of practice as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She is also the Chairperson of the Foundation for Law and Development (FLAD), through which she continues her dedicated efforts to uplift the oppressed and marginalized communities of the nation.

Ms. Firoze is a Member of the National Women’s Affairs Reform Commission of Bangladesh and has served two consecutive terms as a Member of the National Human Rights Commission. She has led several human rights organizations, advocating for the rights of women, children, and laborers, and has been a steadfast voice for empowerment and equality for all.

One of her most notable achievements is leading the landmark judgment establishing the “Sexual Harassment Policy at the Workplace and in Public Places”, which remains the only guideline issued by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh for the protection of women.

In recognition of her exceptional courage and lifelong advocacy for human rights, Ms. Firoze received the International Women of Courage (IWOC) Award in 2024 from the U.S. Department of State, personally presented by the U.S. Secretary of State.
